How to get white teeth without whitening strips or getting them whitened at the dentist?

Question by Swift17: How to get white teeth without whitening strips or getting them whitened at the dentist?
I really want to have nice, pretty white teeth but I don't have enough money to get white strips or get them whitened. Is there any homemade substances I could use or certain toothpastes I could use to whiten my teeth? I use just regular Crest mint toothpaste right now.

  4. my mumis a 50 ciggie a day smoker since she was 17 now she is 41 and her teeth r very very white! seriously ud never guess she smokes wat u need 2 do is get a small container with a lid squeeze out a good toothpaste in the container ( all of it ) then add 2 big table spoons of bi carb soda mix together and use that as a tooth paste twice a day

    ul see a improvment within 2 weeks maximum i do the same thing but sumtimes i get sick of the taste but if u want really white teeth that is the go heaps of celebritys n people do it, it works better than alot of ones u see on tv but they all have bleach in then wich is very harmfull to the enamel on ur teeth so b carefull with those scamers n gud luck it will work! :)

  5. Until you have the money to get it done professionally, I would wait.

    As with all medical procedures tooth whitening can result in side effects such as tooth sensitivity
    (see http://www.virtualmedicalcentre.com/experiences.asp?sid=32) I would be wary of cheap home kits.

    In the meantime, try to avoid the following - as they can cause teeth discoloration
    * Wine;
    * Coffee;
    * Tea;
    * Carrots;
    * Oranges;
    * Liquorice;
    * Chocolate;
    * Tobacco; or
    * Mouth rinses.
